Our Lifeguard Instructor provides Red Cross Lifeguard Training and certification.  Certifications are valid for two years and will certify you to work as a lifeguard at aquatic facilities nationwide.  Please note that certification at our facility does not require employment at our facility.  Please apply to the facility you wish to work for.

FULL LIFEGUARD CLASS:

May 18 6:00 pm-7:30 pm - PRE-TEST: 200-yard swim with 2-minute tread without hands, deep water brick retrieval

May 19 3:15-6:00 pm

May 27 3:15-7:30 pm

May 28 3:15-7:30 pm

May 29 3:15-7:30 pm

May 30 3:15-7:30 pm

May 31 8:00-10:00 am

​June 10 6:30-7:30 pm - swim test: 200-yard swim with 2-minute tread without hands, deep water brick retrieval

June 11 9:00-5:00 pm (Lunch break 1-1:30)

June 12 9:00-5:00 pm (Lunch break 1-1:30)

June 13 9:00-5:00 pm (Lunch break 1-1:30)

$200 including the Red Cross Registration fee which is payable after passing the swim test at the first class.

Students are required to have their own fanny pack and CPR shield.  Bring your own or notify us when registering that you need to purchase one from us.

Minimum Requirements

  • Be age 15 by the last class.

  • Pass the pre-test:  jump into the deep end then swim 150 yards (crawl stroke/freestyle and/or breaststroke) tread water 2 minutes using no hands then swim 50 yards; swim 20 yards to retrieve a 10-pound brick from the deep end and swim back holding a 10 lb brick at surface level with both hands in under 1 minute 40 seconds

  • Complete the online portion of the class: proof of online completion must be shown at the first in-person class.

  • Attend all in-person sessions: Lifeguards must show maturity in decisions and responsibility in actions.  All classes must be attended and lifeguard candidates must be prepared for each session.

  • Pass the written test with 80% or better: One of the written tests is included in the online portion, and the other is taken after the completion of the in-person water test.  Only two chances to pass this test are allowed.  A study guide is available.

  • Pass the in-water scenario tests: Each scenario must be passed to pass the lifeguard training course.  Two attempts are allowed for each scenario.

Have your fanny pack with face shield, swimsuit, and towel (goggles optional for pre-test only). Gloves will be supplied.
