The Selah Aquatic Center, operated by Selah Park and Recreation Service Area (SPRSA) Board is currently looking for an aquatics director. Job Description:
The Aquatics Director is responsible for ensuring that the Selah Aquatic Center operates at an optimum level as directed by the Selah Park and Recreation Service Area Board (SPRSA).  The Aquatics Director will also ensure compliance with all public health and safety guidelines, as well as general standards for cleanliness and public hospitality.  The Aquatics Director will provide leadership for all Aquatic Center employees and contractors/vendors of services.

 

Responsibilities:

  1. Hire, train, supervise, and terminate employees of the Selah Aquatic Center in accordance with established policies and procedures.

  2. Implement and ensure compliance with all public health and safety policies and procedures, per applicable law and regulations, as needed for efficient operation of the Aquatic Center.

  3. Monitor the administration of the Aquatic Center, including customer accounts, record keeping, registration procedures, facility reservations, and staff member scheduling; establish the price of admission/lessons/facility reservations in consultation with the SPRSA Board and revenue collection procedures.

  4. Ensure the programs and services of the Aquatic Center meet community needs by monitoring existing programs and activities; expanding programs per community interest; and creating new programs to maximize community participation.

  5. Monitor and oversee daily operations through a visible presence and collaborative leadership style.

  6. Communicate with the SPRSA Board, vendors, community members and guests of the Aquatic Center, including parents of swimmers.

  7. Attend meetings of the SPRSA Board and perform the duties of Recording Secretary to the Board.

  8. Perform other duties as may be assigned by the SPRSA Board.

 

Required Qualifications:

  • American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor Certification

  • American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification

  • Certified Pool Operator Certification

  • Minimum age of 21 years

  • Minimum 2 years aquatics management experience

  • Knowledge of proper swim techniques and able to teach all ages

Preferred Qualifications:

  • American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor Trainer Certification

  • American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor Certification

  • Minimum 2 years previous supervisory experience in customer service

 

Physical Requirements:
This position requires a person to sit, stand, walk, swim, talk and hear both in person and by telephone, use hands repetitively to finger, handle, feel and operate standard office equipment, reach with hands and arms, and to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.


Hours:  Hours will vary based on season and demand of activities, programs and events.


Salary:  As negotiated with the SPRSA Board, the Aquatics Director will be paid on an hourly basis for actual hours worked.
